Head Down, Tail Up (so to speak…)

Filming on “Cascade Gardens Grand Supreme” finished yesterday, and the wrap party in Richard’s back yard was a lovely way to unwind (thanks for the beer!).

June heading for summerThe weather is definitely shifting, I just opened up my room let warm air float around June’s travelling set (wardrobe included) and the advance tickets I’ve been printing out.

Lines are FINALLY settling inside my head – even though my heart has owned them for months.

And after the successful launch of the crowd-funding campaign, to raise money for marketing and videography – THANK YOU Sue Hillman, Micha Espinosa and Catherine Fitzmaurice – I’ve decided to throw in another ‘perk’. For a $25 contribution, you can have a ticket to the show PLUS a pdf with the lyrics of all the original songs. “The words are adorable and the tunes catchy” according to Kim McClelland.

Booking are open, only two weeks and a bit to go!

How wonderful – our production team now includes Jade Finley, who will stage manage the Brisbane season. I met Jade on the shoot for “Cascade Gardens Grand Supreme” when she was 1st AD for the first week, and I am thrilled to have her on board. Jade is about to graduate from QUT with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, TV and New Media Production. More of Jade later.

I have also bitten the bullet (as they say) and set up a crowd funding campaign on IndieGoGo. This is to help with marketing and promotion costs, and to pay for a professional videographer who will record the performance and provide us with great material to continue promoting the show as it goes on tour.  If you would like to join the team as a contributor there are excellent perks, ranging from discounted tickets to any performance of “Yes, Because…” to coaching sessions with Dame June (ok it’s really Flloyd, but you know what I mean), and if you would spread the word by sharing this post with your friends and colleagues, and on social media you will likewise earn my undying gratitude.

Not Just an Update…

3154-'Yes,-because…'-Website-Poster-1Woh!  Things are really hotting up now. The world is spinning beneath my feet, and I’m running as fast as I can to keep up with it!

I’ve had to cancel the proposed Melbourne Fringe Festival season, sadly – but just for this year. On the other hand, I leave for the UK as soon as the Brisbane season closes. I’ve landed a contract teaching voice at E15 Acting School for 10 months, and there are plans afoot already to let Dame June loose on an unsuspecting British public.

I’ve also switched the ticketing over to Trybooking.com. The Eventbrite option is still live, but Trybooking seems to be much more user-friendly, and it takes a lesser proportion of the ticket price. And if you know anything about independent theatre, you’ll know that every cent counts!
