Our Production Partners

We are so very honoured to announce three sponsors for our forthcoming Brisbane season.

First to come onboard was Oblong+Son, graphic artists based in Newstead. The people at Oblong believe that “design is central to making our future sustainable, from communication to industrial design to urban planning and architecture. We also believe that progress towards a sustainable future is closely tied to the fight for social justice.”

oblong-logo1Oblong are designing our promotional materials, the posters and postcards will go to the printers shortly.

Next to join the team was the New Globe Theatre, 220 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. With a grand and glorious history – check out their website for the lowdown – “What makes [New Globe Theatre] unique is the fact that it can be a multi-media venue. It’s got potential for theatre, cinema, music, all kinds of the arts are covered, and it is being utilised for that.”

And now, we can announce that the Queensland Brain Institute, specifically the Clem Jones Centre for Ageing Dementia Research, at the University of Queensland, has joined us as our Premier Sponsor.

QBI001Since opening less than two years ago, CJCADR scientists have made significant headway in dissecting neurodegenerative diseases, with exciting developments including earlier diagnosis using MRI and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease using ultrasound technology. The centre is one of the world’s larger centres focussed solely on research into the prevention and treatment of dementia.

Dame June Bloom has welcomed the CJCADR onboard with the comment “Yes, because I sincerely hope they get there before I do.”

A revamped logo for TMT*

Did you notice the change of logo?  Did you see how we did that?  Simples.  The old logo, but negativised (is there such a word?). And the wording may look a little different, but that is just to make it even clearer that we are equal parts poetry, passion, philosophy.

I love the way the lightning now looks like tree roots shooting down into the earth from a giant tree. This feels really good. We are almost ready to hit the road running with our new production, “Yes, Because…”.

By the way, if you can guess where the title comes from (it is a quote from a very famous character in literature) you may have 2 complimentary tickets to a performance of your choice, anywhere, any time.

Have a go!

* and it’s gone already… More of this later.

Next stop – Valentine’s Busk

Melbourne was warm in welcome and temperature. I loved the trams, the coffee and the cafes. The workshop with John Britton was pure joy from start to finish. He seems to attract only the most generous artists who are willing to play, share and inspire each other with their wealth of skill and experience.

Yes Because 21 Jan 2015 MelbourneDame June came out to play on Wednesday evening, and the show is growing with each outing. There’ll be another work-in-progress showing in Brisbane in a couple of months – maybe sooner.  Meantime, I’ve signed her up to appear at the Valentine’s Busk that Brisbane City Council is putting on at the Cultural Precinct, South Bank, on Saturday afternoon, 14th February.  The actual program timetable will be published shortly.  Looking forward to seeing you there! Please help to spread the word with the hashtag #ValentinesBusk.
