About TMT

Thunder’s Mouth Theatre was established in Brisbane, Australia in 2010 by Flloyd Kennedy, formerly Artistic Director of Golden Age Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland. Golden Age Theatre was named after its first production, The Golden Age by Louis Nowra, and from 1991 till 1996 it performed one project a year in small scale theatre spaces, fringe venues and community halls around Scotland and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and also with found objects in found spaces, hence our work was often site-specific. Read more about Golden Age Theatre here.

The first production was The Fall of June Bloom – or what you will, written by Flloyd Kennedy and performed by herself as June, with Tony Brockman as Jerome and Jeffrey Turpin as the Musician. It was the first production at the newly refurbished Geoffrey Rush Studio Theatre at the University of Queensland.

In 2011 the production toured to Phoenix, Arizona, where it was performed by Flloyd with local actor Lauren Dykes at the Estrella Community College and at the Phoenix Fringe Festival.

Flloyd and Lauren also performed for two bedridden friends, inventing the form of Bedsite Theatre.

In January 2015, TMT presented a preview of Flloyd’s solo show Yes! Because… to an invited audience in Melbourne, which offers a sequel in the life of Dame June Bloom. It was premiered in Brisbane in July, shortly before Flloyd relocated to the UK to take up the position of Deputy Head of Voice at E15 Acting School. Yes! Because… was subsequently performed at the Clifftown Studio Theatre in Southend-on-Sea, the United Festival of Solo Performance in New York (2015), Bread and Roses Theatre in London (2017), Lantern Theatre in Liverpool (2017), the community centre in Westruther, Scottish Borders, and the Cornerhouse Theatre, Surbiton (2019).

A staged reading of Fractions by Marcel Dorney was presented at the Bread and Roses Theatre, London, in 2016.

In 2021, TMT entered a whole new arena: PODCASTING! THEATRE OF THE EARS, AND OF THE MIND. We are also honoured to have been invited to join the Fable and Folly network (“where audio fiction producers flourish“).

In 2026, we invited a group of creative individuals based in Liverpool, UK, to join us as we create our own version of the Ultimate Ensemble Theatre Company. Our aim is to train together, learning new skills and advancing those we have in order to produce live theatre performance which is not just dynamic, exciting, experimental, honest, challenging, entertaining and provocative, but theatre that will blow your mind.
